Start your weekend with clay! This laid-back Saturday morning ceramics class is perfect for beginners and intermediate students who want to get their hands dirty in a fun, low-pressure environment. We’ll spend most of our time on the pottery wheel, learning the basics of throwing, trimming, and shaping forms. Along the way, we’ll also explore hand building techniques to add details, experiment with new ideas, and personalize your work. Come ready to learn, relax, and enjoy a creative morning in the studio.

Monday Clay Club - Handbuilding

This 8 week guided advanced course is designed for handbuilding students that are looking to dive deeper in their ceramic knowledge while creating projects of their choice. Whether you are looking to perfect a classic project or try something new, there is space to work on your skills and indulge your creativity. Instructor-led demonstrations will include working with slabs, mixing clay colors, expanding kiln knowledge, mixing glazes, and creating artistic pieces.

Prior experience required.

Drawing Basics

If you’ve always wanted to learn to draw, but aren’t sure where to start, this class is for you! We’ll cover basic perspective, value (shading), people and faces, and how to get your eyes and hands working together. Supplies included.

Fun with Clay

Come explore the relaxing process of working with clay through handbuilding techniques. Students will explore a range of hand building as they learn to make a holiday wreath, Christmas tree or candle holder, and create a holiday gift such as a platter or spoon holders.  Of course if your creativity is taking your projects in another direction create what your heart desires! Learn something new, meet new friends, and come enjoy the relaxing benefits of working with clay. Start your week off right and join the Clay Community at the Kish Center!

Fabulous Felting

Calendar Oct 19, 2026 at 1 pm, runs for 6 weeks

Needle felting lets you make amazing flat objects and sculptures by stabbing loose wool with a special needle. We’ll make a different seasonal project each week, so you’ll go home with lots of fiber art to keep or share. This session has new projects, so returning students are welcome. (Warning: Felting needles are sharp! We’ll be careful, but you’ll probably poke yourself at least once.) Supplies are included.

Claypalooza

Ages: 8 - 12

Each week we’ll make a different clay sculpture projects using handbuilding techniques. Once our pieces are dried and fired, we’ll add color with glazes. We’re going to get messy, so wear play clothes and tie back long hair if you have it!

Tuesday Afternoons on the Wheel

This is a welcoming, supportive space where everyone belongs, whether it’s your first time touching clay or you’re returning to the wheel. Come ready to get your hands dirty, embrace the learning process (failures included!), and discover the joy of creating something beautiful from start to finish. Wear clothes you don't mind getting muddy and all of your creative ideas!
