Clay Club - Wednesday Handbuilding

This 8 week guided advanced course is designed for students that are looking to dive deeper in their ceramic knowledge. Wherever your creativity leads you, there is something for everyone in this class. Whether you want to create large-scale work, make a teapot, or try something you have never tried before, instructor-led demonstrations will explore these projects and more! Prior experience required. Aprons are highly recommended.

Fun with Clay

This eight week hand building class is a great way to start your week and do something for yourself! Students will explore a range of hand building techniques as they create cups, a traditional vase, unique vase or lantern, and a pumpkin. Of course, if your creativity is taking your projects in another direction, create what your heart desires.

With your class registration, you have access to the studio an additional two hours per week during Open Studio so the fun can continue (or so you can make up a missed class). Enjoy your Monday mornings doing something you love and have fun with clay at the Kish Center!

It's a family affair! Come and create together!

Suitable for ages 5 - 105

Not only create your own clay masterpiece, but now also the option to glaze it. Materials for a small piece and basic instruction will be provided.

Bring your imagination and dress for a mess!

Pieces will be fired and available for pick up approximately two weeks after the workshop.

A parent is required to attend with children under 14.

Sunday Afternoons on the Wheel

Want to discover a relaxing, tactile, and playful way to end your weekend before a busy week? Join us on Sundays in Beginning Wheel Throwing for a rewarding way to spend your day! Students will learn all the basics of wheel-throwing in this course, from centering and shaping to trimming and decorating. We will also focus on how to enhance the surfaces of your ceramic vessels by layering decorative techniques such as water etching, wax resist, Mishima, sgraffito, carving, stamping, underglaze painting, and layering glazes. This is a beginner-friendly course that teaches technical skills for wheel-throwers of all abilities. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or a seasoned pro on the wheel, you’re sure to walk away from this course with a new skill related to the art of wheel throwing and ceramic surface decoration!

 

There is no class November 22

Payment plan available: $50 deposit plus 2 payments of $112.50, paid every two weeks.

Mud, Spin, Repeat: Wheel Throwing with Kelly

Calendar Oct 14, 2026 at 10 am, runs for 8 weeks

Entry-level to intermediate wheel-throwing class, adapted to accommodate all skill levels. Students will learn and strengthen foundational wheel-throwing techniques, including centering, pulling, and creating functional forms. As skills develop, students will also have the opportunity to work on projects of their choice with individualized guidance.

Creative Souls

$250

Calendar Oct 14, 2026 at 4:30 pm, runs for 8 weeks

Calling all creative souls that are looking for a more open ended class! This two hour class will teach the basics of hand building while leaving projects intentionally open for your creativity to shine. This session will include demonstrations on carving, slip trailing, and layering glazes. If you are prone to staying up late thinking on your projects or enjoy the pull of going in your own direction, this class is the one for you!

With your class registration, you have access to the studio an additional two hours per week during Open Studio so the fun can continue (or so you can make up a missed class). Enjoy taking a pause mid week and doing something you love-come join the clay community at the Kish Center!
