This class is beginner-friendly and includes instruction in the core skills of wheel throwing with projects focused on creating cups, bowls, and plates. Want to discover a relaxing, tactile, and playful way to end your weekend before a busy week? Join us on Sundays in Beginning Wheel Throwing for a rewarding way to spend your day! Students will learn all the basics of wheel-throwing in this course, from centering and shaping to trimming and decorating. We will also focus on how to enhance the surfaces of your ceramic vessels by layering decorative techniques such as water etching, wax resist, Mishima, sgraffito, carving, stamping, underglaze painting, and layering glazes. This is a beginner-friendly course that teaches technical skills for wheel-throwers of all abilities. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or a seasoned pro on the wheel, you’re sure to walk away from this course with a new skill related to the art of wheel throwing and ceramic surface decoration!

Claypalooza

Ages: 8 - 12
Each week we’ll make a different clay sculptures project using handbuilding techniques. Once our pieces are dried and fired, we’ll add color with glazes. We’re going to get messy, so wear play clothes and tie back long hair if you have it! There is no class September 7th

This is a welcoming, supportive space where everyone belongs, whether it’s your first time touching clay or you’re returning to the wheel. Come ready to get your hands dirty, embrace the learning process (failures included!), and discover the joy of creating something beautiful from start to finish.

Wherever your creativity leads you, there is something for everyone in this class. Whether you want to create large-scale work, make a teapot, or try something you have never tried before, instructor-led demonstrations will explore these projects and more! Prior experience required. Aprons are highly recommended.
