Improv: Storytelling and Narration

Looking to be a better storyteller in your improv scenes? Want to create scenes with a clear beginning, middle, and end? This is the class for you! In this class, you will learn how to independently and collaboratively build stories/scenes with action, characters, emotion, understandable story line, and a clear resolution. This class will not only focus on narrative games but also strengthen your ability to establish premise-based scenes. To get the most out of this class, it is recommended that you have taken Fundamentals of Improv or have previous improv experience. This class ends with a graduation show, date and time TBD.

Junior Drama Club

Ages: 8 - 11

Learn the tools every actor uses to create memorable characters and build a great performance! In this class, students will work together to learn how to use their bodies, voices, and imaginations in order to inhabit different characters, make bold choices, and build a strong ensemble on stage. Students will also learn acting skills and techniques they can carry with them no matter where their lives take them! Students will showcase selections of their classwork as a part of our Collage Day on Saturday, May 2nd. 2 tickets to this event are included in class registration. This class is part of our Acting Pathway, which develops theatre skills through acting techniques, storytelling, and collaboration. In Junior Drama Club, students will focus on scene work and ensemble building.

Broadway Bootcamp

Ages: 8 - 11

Learn songs from Broadway musicals while honing skills in acting and dancing! Students will learn common musical theatre dance steps and work on ensemble singing, all while acting through song. All skill levels are welcome! Students will showcase selections of their classwork as a part of our Collage Day on Saturday, May 2nd. 2 tickets to this event are included in class registration. This class is part of our Musical Theatre Pathway, which develops theatre skills through ensemble work, storytelling, music, and dance. In Broadway Bootcamp, students will focus on choreography and group vocals!

Twisted Tales

Ages: 8 - 11

Take a journey through the fairy tale forest…with a twist! In this class, students will use their imaginations to put their own spin on classic fairy tale characters and stories. Will the giant come down the beanstalk to meet the big bad wolf? Will Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks meet in the woods? There’s only one way to find out! This class is part of our NEW Creative Drama series, which develops theatre skills in an accessible way through theatre games, exercises, and creative exploration. It is a process based curriculum, with lots of freedom to create the stories and characters that most ignite and excite the imaginations of young actors. In Code Breakers, students will focus on STORYTELLING and WORLD BUILDING. Creative Drama: - Builds empathy, teamwork, and confidence. - Encourages focus and creative problem solving. - Shows that theatre skills are life skills - Courage, Collaboration, and Compassion!

Middle School Acting

Calling all middle school actors who are ready to take their training to the next level! In this class, students will learn acting techniques, delve into scene work, and practice monologues. Participation in this class is sure to help any young actor with upcoming auditions and productions, allowing them to feel confident and prepared for any theatrical venture ahead of them. Students will showcase selections of their classwork as a part of our Collage Day on Saturday, May 2nd. 2 tickets to this event are included in class registration. This class is part of our Acting Pathway, which develops theatre skills through acting techniques, storytelling, and collaboration. In The Middle School Acting, students will focus on scene work and monologues.

Ages: 10 - 12

Want to create characters and skits off the top of your head? Want to be ready the next time someone forgets a line on stage? Want to have fun playing silly games with friends? If you answered "yes and..." to any of the above questions, Youth Improv is the right class for you! Over the course of the program, you will learn the rules of improvisational acting and the fun behind improv games. All skill levels are welcome! Students will showcase selections of their classwork as a part of our Collage Day event on Saturday, May 2nd. 2 tickets to this event are included in class registration. Class space is limited.

Broadway Beginnings

Ages: 5 - 7

Curtain up and light the lights because we're taking center stage! Explore singing, dancing, and acting through songs from your favorite musicals and movies in this introductory musical theatre class. Students will learn the basics of musical theatre performance as they sing and dance three group songs. All skill levels are welcome! This class is part of our Musical Theatre Pathway, which develops theatre skills through ensemble work, storytelling, music, and dance. In Broadway Beginnings, students will focus on teamwork and confidence!
